We built the first one for our son

Our son didn't speak for the first three years of his life. We carried the same fear the whole time: that he'd get separated from us, someone would find him, and he'd have no way to tell them who he was or how to reach us.

So we created something that could help speak for him.

Silent Shield started at our kitchen table in Fort Worth, Texas. What began as a way to protect our son has grown into a mission to help families and individuals everywhere feel more prepared when communication matters most.

Who can see the information?

Anyone who taps your Silent Shield with a compatible smartphone or has access to its profile link can view the information you've chosen to share. You control what goes into your emergency profile and can update it whenever you need to.

Do I need an app or a subscription?

No app or subscription is required! Your Silent Shield includes a free emergency profile that you can create, access, and update anytime. Optional Premium features are available, but they are never required to use your Silent Shield.

What if the information changes?

Your information can change, and your Silent Shield can change with it! Simply sign in to your Silent Shield account or use your secure editing access to update emergency contacts, medical information, photos, or important instructions. There's no need to purchase a new wristband or keychain.

Will a first responder know to tap it?

Silent Shield is designed with clear identification text and a "Tap Phone Here" symbol to help others recognize how to access your information. While we can't guarantee every first responder or bystander will recognize or scan it, anyone with a compatible smartphone can access your profile by tapping the tag. Silent Shield is an additional communication and safety tool, not a replacement for traditional medical identification or emergency procedures.

What phones does it work with?

Silent Shield works with NFC-compatible smartphones, including most modern iPhones and Android devices. iPhone XS, XR, and newer compatible models support background NFC scanning, while some older iPhones require manual NFC reading. Android users may need to enable NFC in their phone settings. An internet connection is required to open the emergency profile.
