Let's set up your Silent Shield


Takes about three minutes. No app to download, everything happens in your browser.

First: is NFC on?

  • iPhone

    Silent Shield works with NFC-compatible iPhones, including iPhone 7 and newer.

    Hold the top of your iPhone near the Silent Shield and follow the notification to open the emergency profile.

    If your phone doesn't detect the tag automatically, try the NFC Tag Reader in Control Center, if available.

  • Android

    Most modern Android phones with NFC can scan Silent Shield without an additional app.

    If your phone doesn't detect the shield, open Settings and search for NFC. Make sure it's enabled.

    Samsung: Settings → Connections → NFC and contactless payments.

    Google Pixel: Settings → Connected devices → Connection preferences → NFC.

    The NFC scanning location varies by phone model. Hold the back of your phone near the shield and move it slowly until detected.

Now tap your shield

Hold your phone near the "TAP PHONE HERE" area on your Silent Shield.

iPhone: Position the top of your phone near the shield.

Android: Position the back of your phone near the shield. The NFC reader location varies by model.

Move your phone slowly and pause briefly until a notification or link appears. Tap it to begin setting up your emergency profile.

Not scanning? Unlock your phone, remove any thick or metal phone case, and try again. See the troubleshooting tips below for additional help.

Shield won't scan?

Take your phone case off.

Some thick, metal, or magnetic phone cases can interfere with NFC scanning.

If your Silent Shield isn't detected, remove your phone case and try scanning again. Make sure your phone is unlocked.

Android: Check that NFC is on.

Open your phone's Settings and search for "NFC."

Make sure NFC is enabled, then hold the back of your phone near the "TAP PHONE HERE" area.

The scanning location varies depending on your phone model.

Find the Right Scanning Position

NFC works at very close range.

Hold your phone near the "TAP PHONE HERE" area and slowly adjust its position, pausing briefly at each spot.

For iPhones, try the top of the phone. For Android devices, try the center or upper back of the phone.

Still nothing?

Try a different phone to rule out the device. If it won't scan on any phone, email us at support@alliance3dprints.com and we'll troubleshoot it or send a replacement.

Step 1

Your shield is detected

You'll see "NFC Detected" and your Shield ID. Tap Activate My Silent Shield to begin.

Step 2

Choose the category that best describes the person using Silent Shield. 

Add their name, date of birth, and an optional profile photo. Then enter emergency contacts and any relevant medical information, including allergies or medications.

Tip: Include at least one reliable emergency contact. Remember that information added to the public profile can be viewed by anyone who scans your Silent Shield.

Step 3

The two fields that matter most

These two fields help someone understand important needs and how to respond.

Critical Notes: Share information someone should know right away, such as communication difficulties, medical conditions, or other important considerations.

Example: "Nonverbal. May not respond to name. Please speak calmly and use simple instructions."

Emergency Instructions: Explain what someone should do if assistance is needed.

Example: "Call the primary emergency contact listed on this profile. If there is immediate danger, contact emergency services."

Tip: Keep both fields clear, brief, and easy to understand. In an emergency, simple instructions can make a difference.

Step 4

Create your PIN

Create a secure PIN using 4–10 letters or numbers. Your PIN protects your emergency profile from unauthorized changes.

Important: Your PIN is only needed to edit your information. Anyone who scans your Silent Shield can view the information you've chosen to share without entering a PIN.

Tip: Save your PIN somewhere secure. Claiming your Silent Shield to an account can also help you manage your profile and recover access if needed.

Step 5

Claim your shield

Your Silent Shield is now activated and ready to use!

For added convenience, you can claim your Silent Shield using your email address to create a free owner account.

Why claim your shield?

  • Manage multiple Silent Shields from one dashboard.
  • Recover or reset your editing PIN if forgotten.
  • Update your emergency profile more easily.
  • Access optional Premium scan notifications if you choose to upgrade.

No account or subscription required. You can skip this step and continue using your free emergency profile.

Our recommendation: Claim your shield so you have an easier way to manage and recover access to your information.

Your Silent Shield is Ready!

Once activation is complete, scan your Silent Shield again to open your emergency profile.

Check that your photo, emergency contacts, medical details, and instructions display correctly.

We recommend:

  • Testing your Silent Shield with a second compatible smartphone.
  • Confirming your emergency contact phone numbers are correct.
  • Reviewing your profile whenever important information changes.

Your emergency profile can be updated anytime, for free.
