What is Silent Shield™?

Silent Shield™ is a small NFC-enabled tag that allows someone to instantly access emergency or medical information by tapping it with their phone. It was originally designed to help protect my nonverbal autistic son, and is now being used by families and caregivers for a wide range of conditions — including autism, diabetes, epilepsy, dementia, and more.

How does it work?

Each tag contains a tiny chip that triggers a link when tapped by a smartphone. You decide what that link shows — it could be a Google Doc, Notes app page, Notion page, or any other hosted document. When someone taps the tag, they instantly see the information you’ve chosen to share. There’s no app, no battery, and setup takes just a few minutes.

What phones are compatible?

Silent Shield™ works with iPhones (iPhone 7 and newer) and most modern Android smartphones. iPhone XS and newer can scan NFC tags automatically, while iPhone 7–X users may need to open their Control Center and tap the NFC reader. Most Android phones have NFC turned on by default, but a few budget models may not support it. It does not work with iPhone 6 or older.

Is my information secure?

Yes. The tag itself doesn’t store any personal data — it simply links to a webpage or file you control. You can update or remove that content at any time. No one else can edit or overwrite your tag once it’s set.

How do I set it up?

Where should I attach the tag?

Most people clip it to a backpack, lanyard, keychain, zipper, or medical bag. It's lightweight, waterproof, and made to go wherever the person wearing it goes. It's subtle but powerful — always there, just in case.

What should I include in the info?

You can include as much or as little as you'd like. Most people add the person’s name, medical condition, emergency contacts, allergies, medications, and any important notes like “nonverbal” or “may become disoriented.” It’s fully customizable, so you’re in control.

Can I change the information later?

Yes. Since the tag links to a document or note that you manage, you can update the information any time. The tag never needs to be reprogrammed — just change the info at the source, and it updates automatically.

Where do you ship from?

All Silent Shield™ tags are printed, assembled, and shipped from Fort Worth, Texas. Most orders go out quickly, and you’ll receive tracking info as soon as it ships.
