What is Silent Shield™?
Silent Shield™ is a small NFC-enabled safety tag that allows emergency contacts and critical information to be accessed instantly by tapping it with a smartphone.
It was originally created to help protect my nonverbal autistic son and is now used by families, caregivers, and individuals for a wide range of needs — including autism, diabetes, epilepsy, dementia, medical alerts, and more.
It provides peace of mind when communication may be difficult or impossible.
How does Silent Shield™ work?
Each Silent Shield™ contains a secure NFC chip. When someone taps the tag with their phone, it opens a private web page linked specifically to that tag.
You control what information appears on that page, such as emergency contacts, medical notes, or safety information. No app is required, no batteries are needed, and setup takes less than one minute.
What phones are compatible?
Silent Shield™ works with iPhone 7 and newer, as well as most modern Android smartphones.
On iPhone, NFC scanning works automatically by tapping the top of the phone.
On Android, NFC must be enabled in settings (Settings → Connections → NFC).
Silent Shield™ does not work with iPhone 6 or older devices.
How is my information stored and secured?
Your information is securely stored online and is never saved on the tag itself.
The Silent Shield™ tag contains no personal data. It simply links to a secure profile associated with your specific tag. Your information is stored in a protected database and tied only to your tag’s unique ID.
Your data is not shared, sold, or made public.
Can someone else change or overwrite my information?
No.
Once your Silent Shield™ is activated, the information is locked to your profile. Anyone who scans the tag can view the information, but only you can edit or update it.
You remain in full control at all times.
Do I need to download an app?
No.
Silent Shield™ works directly through your phone’s browser. There is no app to install, no subscription, and no ongoing maintenance required.
How do I set it up?
Setup takes less than one minute.
Simply tap the Silent Shield™ with your phone and follow the on-screen instructions to enter your information. If you ever need help, we’re here to assist.
Can I update the information later?
Yes.
You can update your information at any time by scanning the Silent Shield™ again. Changes are applied instantly, and the tag never needs to be replaced or reprogrammed.
What information should I include?
You can include as much or as little as you’d like. Most people choose to add:
• Name
• Emergency contacts
• Medical conditions
• Allergies or medications
• Notes such as “nonverbal,” “may become disoriented,” or “responds best to caregiver”
You are always in control of what is shown.
Where should I attach the Silent Shield™?
Most people attach Silent Shield™ to backpacks, lanyards, keychains, zippers, or medical bags.
It’s lightweight, durable, and water-resistant — designed to go wherever the person wearing it goes.
Where do you ship from?
All Silent Shield™ tags are designed, printed, assembled, and shipped from Fort Worth, Texas.
Most orders ship quickly, and tracking information is provided as soon as your order ships.
