What is Silent Shield?

Silent Shield is an NFC-enabled emergency identification wristband or keychain that makes important information accessible with a simple smartphone tap.

Each Silent Shield connects to a free, customizable emergency profile containing the information you choose to share, such as emergency contacts, medical details, and care instructions.

Originally created by a father for his nonverbal autistic son, Silent Shield has grown into an everyday safety tool for individuals and families of all ages and abilities.

How does Silent Shield work?

Every Silent Shield contains a small NFC chip programmed to open your unique emergency profile.

When someone taps your wristband or keychain with a compatible smartphone, they can view the information you've chosen to share through their phone's web browser.

No Silent Shield app, batteries, or required subscription.

Who is Silent Shield designed for?

Silent Shield can help people in many different situations, including:

  • Nonverbal individuals and people with communication difficulties

What phones are compatible?

Silent Shield works with compatible NFC-enabled iPhones and Android smartphones.

iPhone: iPhone 7 and newer models support NFC reading, although scanning methods vary by model and software. Hold the top of your phone near the Silent Shield. Some older models may require manually starting an NFC reader.

Android: Most modern NFC-enabled Android phones are compatible. If scanning doesn't work, check that NFC is enabled in your phone's settings.

An internet connection is required to open the emergency profile.

How is my information stored and protected?

Your emergency profile information is stored online, not on the physical NFC chip.

The chip contains a link to your unique Silent Shield profile. You control what information you enter and update.

Important: Anyone who scans your Silent Shield or has access to its profile link can view the information you've chosen to display. Only include details you're comfortable sharing in an emergency.

Editing your profile requires the appropriate PIN or authorized account access.

Can someone else change my information?

Your emergency profile is protected against unauthorized editing.

A person scanning your Silent Shield can view the information you've shared, but making changes requires your editing PIN or authorized owner-account access.

You can update your information whenever necessary.

Do I need an app or subscription?

No Silent Shield app or subscription is required to use your emergency profile.

Your purchase includes free profile creation, viewing, and updates.

Optional Premium features, including scan notifications, are available for customers who want additional functionality. They are not required for the core emergency profile.

How do I set up my Silent Shield?

Setup typically takes about three minutes.

  1. Tap your Silent Shield with a compatible smartphone.

  2. Follow the activation instructions.

  3. Add emergency contacts and important information.

  4. Create your secure editing PIN.

  5. Optionally claim your shield to a free owner account.

Your emergency profile is ready to use once activation is complete.

Can I update my information later?

Absolutely!

Your emergency contacts, medical details, photographs, and instructions can be updated whenever they change.

Access your profile using your secure editing PIN or authorized owner account.

Changes appear on your existing emergency profile, so there's no need to purchase a new Silent Shield or reprogram the NFC chip.

What information can I include?

Your free emergency profile can include:

  • Name and profile photo

  • Up to two emergency contacts

  • Medical conditions and allergies

  • Medications and blood type

  • Communication preferences

  • Important care instructions

  • Additional personal or safety notes

Every field is optional. You decide what information is appropriate to share.

Where should I wear or attach my Silent Shield?

Wristbands: Designed for everyday wrist wear, with adjustable silicone bands available in multiple sizes and colors.

Keychains: Attach to backpacks, keys, bags, lanyards, or other personal belongings.

Choose whichever option best suits the individual's comfort, needs, and daily activities.

Is Silent Shield waterproof?

Silent Shield products are designed for everyday use, but water exposure should be considered based on the specific product.

We recommend avoiding prolonged submersion and extreme heat, particularly with our 3D-printed keychains.
